Take a ride on the "Potty Train"

Potty training has begun!!!! ARRGGG! Averi isn't liking the changes, she has been crying on and off at the drop of a hat like I do when I have PMS!

The main problem I have with this is that Averi thinks the toilet is a performance stage. Also, she is such a creature of habit that anything I do or say while she is on the toilet will forever become part of her permanent routine, so I have to watch what I do. For example, I let her talk into a cup one time, and now she has to do it every time. It makes a cool echo, so she likes to make up stories or pretend like it is a overhead intercom in on of the many stores we go to. She copies and has all of the different store messages memorized and imitates them well. She also makes up rhymes and stories that I have no clue what she is saying, it is entertaining!

My kids are at a science/math camp for 6 hrs. each day last week, so I thought this would be a perfect time for the "potty training". Another problem...she thinks a potty training is a "potty train" choo choo! I will need to reword that! Anyway, wish me luck! Send me some Xanax if you have any to spare, I really need it!!!!

I have the cutest video of her making up rhymes on the toilet, but I can't get it to load, must be too big! I will try again later.

I am in your boat. Will is 3 1/2 and still not trained. He loves the potty, but only to lock the door, load it with toilet paper and flood it.

The joys:)

Good luck! I can't imagine how difficult it must be. Your mom told us about the warm and cold baths. FUNNY

Hello - you wouldn't know me from anyone. I googled "how do you teach a blind baby to chew?" and your blog came up. I hope this isn't intrusive,but... I babysit a little blind girl 3 times a week. She just turned one year - she sits up beautifully, is puhlenty, I mean puhlenty smart, but we don't know how to teach her to crawl nor to chew. The parents are having specialists come and they do give advice on the crawling, but like potty training one can only encourage not force!! I thot chewing would be instinctive, but I guess not. We have tried a little more firm things but she just chokes. She is eating baby food - and like trying new things, but again just sucks them down. We tried watermelon yesterday and even the very smallest bites unless crushed well would cause her to choke. So it seems she doesn't even use her tongue to compress things.
I can tell you are very busy, but if you have any ideas or any links to help we would be glad to know.
We haven't really started to learn the braille yet.
We are loving having a baby around the house and Audrey is a sweetie. We just want to know how to encourage her in things that she will have to know!
Thank you for any help.

Oh, I live in The Dalles, OR - we were just through Idaho Falls a bit back as we went that way to visit our daughter in Casper, WY. We know some very dear people who live in Chester, ID., just north of you. Our daughter's in-laws!
